CCAAA, Inc.  Selected as Test Site

In Fall 2001, the Agency was selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to be a test site for a new computer software system for Area Agencies on Aging across the state. The announcement came in a letter from former Secretary of Aging Richard Browdie and was announced to the AAA Board of Directors at their regular monthly meeting on September 25, 2001.

"We are extremely pleased to be selected as a test site for this new system," remarked John Kordish, AAA Executive Director. "Our staff has shown strong leadership and commitment as this system was being developed for Pennsylvania. It is a logical next step for them now to have the chance to test it for the state."

The system, known as SAMS, is a database program for Area Agencies on Aging and state level departments of aging and is presently used in 25 states. SAMS is produced by Synergy Software Technologies of Vermont. Synergy is presently under contract to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to design the software for operation in Pennsylvania.

The testing phase began in October 2001 and extended through December. The Clearfield AAA  provided recommendations on the software to the Department of Aging.   In January 2002, the system was released to the remainder of AAAs in the state. The software will eventually be used by all Area Agencies on Aging in Pennsylvania and by many of their subcontractor organizations.
